Security Server - Yes or No?

I currently work for a large enterprise that has View configured using the same vCenter and the server infrastructure.  Since this is not a best practice we are working on a project to separate out View to its own vCenter.  As I look to redesign the View environment I am conflicted when determining if I actually need a connection server(s) (currently we don't use them).  Obviously the VMware documentation talks to it but neither my current company or the previous used them, and I know VMware came on site to make initial design recomendations.

Currently we have a complex system of firewall(s) as well as a F5 that passes both external and internal requests to our connection servers.  Can anybody pass along any real world info or documentation stating if we actually need the security server, specifically since we are making use of the F5 in a large enterprise.

The security server is designed to expose parts of your View infrastructure to the outside world in a secure manner.  If your accomplishing that  without a security server I see no reason to change.   if you can utilize the security server and have things work a little more efficient then it may be the way to go.

Thanks for the reply.  The contention is coming from someone in management with little VMware experience who reads alot of VMware documentation concerning security servers and asks why we aren't using them.
