Hi All
We cannot get scanner redirection working in our environment with a Canon ImageFormula DR-C225 II. The scanner redirection option is enabled on the Horizon agent and we are not blocking it via group policy. My understanding is that it should just work. We have tried installing the vendor specific drivers into the VDI instances but this does not help. The taskbar where the scanner redirection icon lives does show the scanner so it see's it to some degree, however whenever we go to scan (have tried using multiple scanning apps) it always says that it can't find a scanner. The host system is able to scan successfully
Any help would be appreciated.
Horizon 2206 server and agent using Windows 10 instant clones.
Let me know if you need anymore info.
We ended up finding a scanner App that worked without anymore config needed. NAPS2 is the program and has worked well for us so far.
Hi, @fishizza1
Can I launch Device Manager from Windows in a virtual machine, assuming I can redirect the scanner?
I would like to see the Device Manager tab, select "devices by connection" and take a screenshot.
Hi, @fishizza1
Thanks for taking the screenshot.
If you want to see it from the logs, you might want to look at the following Horizon Client logs.
=====
C:\ProgramData\VMware\VDM\logs\Scanner*.txt
C:\ProgramData\VMware\VDM\logs\Netlink*.txt
=====
You may want to search for the scanner model number in the logs to make sure the scanner is reading them.
You should always reproduce the problem before looking at the logs. Also, make a note of the date and time you reproduced the problem or something like that.
I found this site: VMware Marketplace
See screenshot. Our clients are generally set to autoupdate so they are 8.9. Am I reading this right? Looks like it just may not be compatible?
Hello,
Whether linux based client devices were used here?
If used Linux based client devices, then we can't use WIA related scanning applications like mspaint,
You can try TWAIN compatible applications like xnview, NAPS2 (https://www.naps2.com/).
