I'd like to post what I have done with our Parent VM. I figured maybe someone can post constructive feedback on this I can include, or get rid of, etc... If you also have a list of things you've done to your parent VM.
Things to assume in our environment:
- We use the MDT to deploy our builds, when we build our parent VM, assume it is being done with the MDT.
- We use SCCM in our environment. With VDI, it will be used to deploy incremental patches for 90 days. Once a quarter, we plan on updating our parent VM with the previous quarters patches, and we will perform a recompose.
- We plan on using ThinApp in our environment, we have yet to decide what we're going to do about cleaning out the App-V client. This will most likely be done using roles in SCCM so when we build a parent VM using the MDT, we'll select that we're imaging a VDI parent VM.
