We work on a remote server by connecting through "VMware Horizon Client.
Our systems has i5 , 16GB RAM and around 70 GB Hard disk space. we have internet leaseline connection of 50 MBps
Some time applications running on server gets slow and at the same time other applicaions works perfect ,and our system is also fine.
My questions are :-
1. What is the resource requirement of "VMware Horizon Client" , i.e, ho much RAM, CPU , Hard Disk space is used by VMware Horizon Client running on our systems to connect the server.
2. Our machines sow it using 8 MB of RAM , is it correct it uses only 8 MB or windows task manager is showing wrong, Is it using much more than that?
3. Suppose I run SQL Server on server , will it use our system's RAM or CPU for running it's process.
4. How much maximum Internet speed VMware Horizon client can use to work on the Server.
Expert Advise please
The resource requirements of the Horizon Client is rather low since it is only processing the transmit of changed pixels. I'd expect no more than 100MB of usage for RAM and sub 5% CPU. Hard disk space would only be consumed by logging.
As for running SQL on the server you are connecting to - this will utilize resources of the server and not of your client system.
The Horizon Client doesn't use that much in terms of bandwidth, maxing out around couple hundred Kb/s. What causes more of an issue is an unstable connection usually described as "jitter." If your network has jitter that will definitely cause a sense of slowness.
To me this sounds like an issue on the server or backing infrastructure causing the performance issues or a network issue between your system and the server.
Hello,
The system requirements for each Horizon Client in the respective Admin Guide; System Requirements for Windows Client Systems
Not sure I fully understand what questions you are asking in 2 and 3, if you are asking if running SQL on the client machine will consume resources then yes it would.
With regards to Q4, there are published bandwidth usage for both PCoIP and Blast, for example if you are using the Blast protocol the average usage and recommendation is Network Bandwidth Considerations
I also found a previous thread where this was discussed; Network bandwidth requirements for horizon blast clients
