Hi,
Do you need to size just storage or entire infrastructure : i.e : compute, network and storage?
You have many ways to estimate required resources, doing it manually, based on best practices and you can use some calculators, Andre's Leibovici one is a good one: you can find it on www.myvirtualcloud.net (also available in french, italian, chinese...)
Otherwise, roughly :
- choose to size for 100% concurrency (all users connected and working at the same time), is there any DR scenario ?
- for CPU : add needed vCPUs and apply a ratio of 1 Physical CPU for 4/6 vCPUs (task worker)
- Memory : add needed RAM and apply TPS (transparent page sharing) and overhead (10%) following desktops similarity
- Storage : add templates + linked clone size, snapshot and any DR/snapshots features
if we state your desktops are average, let's say
- performance requirements :
20 IOPS in steady state : 80 (desktops) x 20 IOPS @100% = 1 600 IOps
60 IOPS at boot/recompose : 80 x 60 = 4 800 IOps
- storage space requirements :
2 x 32 Gb Templates + 80 (desktops) x 7 Gb (average LC size) = 64 + 560 = 624 Gb + 120 Gb (20% snaps) = 750 Gb roughly
