Hello,
Horizon Agent v7.13 is installed with Audio and RTAV options in all VMs. Every audio-related-app works fine (Teams desktop app, Softphone apps like Avaya One-X, Browser conference apps), but we have problems with Microsoft Teams Web app, no microphone is detected (by the way it is the only web app with issues, other communication or meeting web apps work).
Everytime a VDI session is lanched, the VMWare Virtual Microphone is muted in its windows properties (Sound\Recording\Properties\MicLevels, see atached JPGs) and goes into Exclusive Mode (Sound\Recording\Properties\Advanced). See attached JPGs. This way every audio app works as I said, except Teams Web App.
The moment we unmute this option (MicMuted.jpg), the Microsoft Teams Web app works!
The problem is this microphone option goes muted at every VDI connection.
If I remove RTAV from Horizon Agent features or I desable it from GPO, the micro shows up unmuted in Windows Properties but then we have other micro issues everywhere.
Is there a way to keep RTAV and this micro not muted in order to be able for use in this particular case?
Thank you in advance.
We have fixed a similar problem in 7.13.1 so I suggest you to give it or newer version a try.
The problem we fixed in 7.13.1 is specific to Windows 7 VDI so alternatively you could try a Win10 VDI with your current Horizon version to see if your issue will be gone.
We just tried this in house but did not observe the issue reported here. We tested 7.13.3 VDI + 5.5.5 Windows client, 5.5.5 macOS client, 5.5.4 Linux client, Teams on Edge.
What Horizon client did you use? Your local and VDI OS versions? What's your browser version? Did you try a different browser?
Hello,
thanks for the answer.
We use 7.13 VDI + VMWare Horizon Client 5.5.2.
We tested Teams on Edge and Chrome with same result (latest versions, 108.0.xxx).
VDI OS Version: W7
Local OS: W7 and W10
Thank you again.

Hello ofox and thanks again,
if you fixed a similar problem and made microphone work for Teams Web in W7 VDI sessions, then we will go for 7.13 updates.
At the same time, we will try W10 in laboratory to check this, but W10 migration is someting more complex for us for several reasons.
Upgrading to Horizon 8 is normally something to do in 2023. I know VMWare W7 support is dropped in H8 but do not know about compatibility H8-W7.vdi and if it is mandatory to migrate to W10 for VDI in H8.
Thank you and hny.
Hi DSI_IMAIberica,
If you had to use Win7 VDI I would suggest you to stay with 7.13.x because H8 does not support Win7 any more. For this issue you could quickly test 7.13.1 or newer to see if the issue is gone with those new versions, then decide on upgrade.
If you are fine to replace Win7 VDI with Win10 VDI then both 7.13.x and H8 are your options to test because they both support Win10 VDI and we believe Win10 is free of this issue.
Hello,
7.13.1 did it! Microphone issue fixed for W7-VDI sessions.
Thank you very much for your help. Now is time to think about next actions, W7 cannot stay for ever ![]()
