RSA Setup and Configuration

We are trying to setup RSA SecurID in our VMWare Horizon View 6.0.1 environment. Our main RSA guy found a new job recently and we are trying to figure this out on our own.

We have been able to configure our connection servers as Authentication Agents and we have generated a configuration file. We have uploaded the configuration file () to our connection servers. When we connect directly to one of the configured connection servers it gives us the correct username and SecurID prompt. When we enter our username and RSA token we get an "Access Denied" message.

We followed the instructions in the View documentation and attempted to clear the "node secret" on the connection server side and the RSA side. The clear node secret option was grayed out in RSA. We have verified that our user accounts are in the correct AD security group. It appears that everything is setup correctly, but it isn't working. We have obviously missed something.

We haven't been able to find any documentation on how to setup and configure RSA SecurID for a VMWare Horizon View connection server.

Has anyone in the community done this successfully? Have you found an online resource that walks you through the setup?

Repeat the steps for RSA SecurID setup which starts on page 37. Page 40 also has a troubleshooting guide.

Let us know how you get on. RSA SecurID authentication with RSA Authentication Manager is a commonly used setup for View and works well.

If you still have problems, report back and someone will help you.

We have followed all of those steps and we are still having problems.

Is there any documentation/best practices from a RSA perspective that anyone has found that is helpful?

The RSA documentation is here RSA documentation for setting up View Connection Server for SecurID. It may be a setup issue with RSA Authentication Manager. Logs on that server may help you.

It is from RSA. The second link I gave you is a VMware KB article giving the links to the PDF documentation written by RSA on how to set up RSA Authentication Manager and View for SecurID. Those PDFs are on the RSA/EMC web site.

Pick the RSA document for the specific version of View you are using.

If it still isn't working, there must be a setup problem either with View Connection Server or RSA Authentication Manager in your environment or in your network infrastructure/firewalls etc. Look at logs on your RSA Authentication Manager server as well and go through the troubleshooting guide.

This is a commonly used feature in View.

Do you know of any RSA Authentication Manager documentation that walks through how to setup and configure the connection servers? I think everything is fine on the VMWare View side. I would like to review the RSA side to make sure everything is setup and configured correctly.

For the Connection Server setup, the documentation link provided above has those details. Make sure you also follow the troubleshooting guide in that.
