After this Exception the import.ldf file still exists also the import_generic.csv, but both of them are 0 kb. With out these File we’re not able to import VMs into Vmware View.

In the Event’s of Vmware View there are two types of Warnings:

Message: Problem processing http connection: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset

Message: Problem processing http connection:javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: remote host closed connection during handshake

Did Anybodyelse had the same Issue and solved it?

Thank’s!

I'm not familiar with the NetApp tool and don't know how many from NetApp frequent this messageboard, you might need to paste this over at http://communities.netapp.com/ too. I can tell you that the two errors you see in the View logs look like closed connections from clients/monitor tools and are very unlikely to be related, as it looks like the tool simply generates the needed entries to import directly into View's ADAM database.

Hi mpryor,

your right the two warnings were not realated to the ImportFile Problem. The Warnings disappeared after disabling TSL 1.0 in the Java Controlpanel.

The ImportFile Creation Error is still the same. So I will post it at netapp.com, as you said.

Thank you for help

Hi,

This is Abhinav Joshi, one of the VDI Architects at NetApp, responsible for developing best practices and Reference Architectures for VMware View on NetApp. I was wondering if you were able to get your issue resolved.

The good news is that with NetApp RCU 2.1 (released last month), the virtual desktop import into View Manager is automatic. You no longer have to manually bulk import using the import file. NetApp RCU 2.1 can be downloaded from http://now.netapp.com.

A quick demo of RCU 2.1 is available here: http://blogs.netapp.com/virtualization/2009/09/now-available-netapp-rcu-21.html

Also, please check out the RCU 2.1 FAQ here: http://blogs.netapp.com/virtualization/2009/10/rapid-cloning-utility-v21-frequently-asked-questions-...

In addition to cloning VMs, RCU 2.1 also allows you to run deduplication on both VMFS and NFS datastores to achieve space savings as new writes happen to the VMs. This works for datastores hosting VMs created using VMware full clones, VMware linked clones, and NetApp RCU provisioned FlexClones.

A quick demo is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGw_QHhPMMc

Finally, check out the tri-branded NetApp / VMware / Cisco Reference Architecture highlighting the joint value of VMware Linked Clones and NetApp RCU provisioned FlexClones.

Please feel free to email me at abhinavj@netapp.com if there are any further questions.

Regards,

Abhinav Joshi
