Question about accessing CRM system via Horizon Client

Hi all, my organisation has just made available to us the VMWare Horizon client to access a virtual corporate desktop.

We have a small CRM (customer relationship management) system that has Microsoft Access .mdb ISAM table backend. The CRM is used by 10 users. Application currently resides on local server and users access via desktop shortcut on their local desktops.

We were starting to investigate options for remote access via Remote Desktop Services. But as all users currently have access to the same server from external via Vmware Horizon client, just wondering what the shortfalls would be running the application via the Vmware Horizon client?

Do we need to run on RDS then access via Horizon client? Just not sure what the options are.

Thanks

Graeme

You are correct that you need a RDS server. For a published app, you need to load/install the application on a server with the RD session hosts feature installed. There isn't really any magic on the back end because the application is essentially using RemoteApp fronted with Horizon. There is plenty of benefits using Horizon. If you already have the infrastructure no reason to not go forward with it. You'll give the users a seamless experience without having to bounce between RDP and Horizon. Not really any shortfalls as you're essentially doing the same thing either way.
