i have a few floating pools in the hospital that all users access. Everyone is part of the same group, get teh same GPO's applied, and are setup the exact same way. However, some access via a Thick Client, some use This clients and some access via Laptops. The issue that i come up against is when users login they have very different login times. Some actually go thru the " Preparing Desktop" during login and others don't. I'm trying to find out why but not sure of the process during floating pools. Could anyone shed some light on this? I would appreciate it. Thanks.
HI,
What kind of profile strategy are you using? Do you have VMware UEM running in your environment? This because roaming profiles are unpredictable when it comes to logon times.
Also, make sure you have optimized your images with the OSOT tool: VMware OS Optimization Tool and make sure you removed items such as unnecessary active setup keys and run keys.
regards,
I would also suggest to refresh the machines after use. This way you don't have leftover issues that other users confront you with.
Do you happen to have an option to go for mandatory profiles? This would work best in a pooled desktop environment if you need to create quick logon times.
As DSigmond says, roaming proifles are very unpredictable mostly because they can grow unlimited if you don't maximize the roaming profile size. Using pooled desktop the entire profile needs to be copied to the VDI machine. If this profile is for example 1GB it will take quite a long time to log on then.
