I am having a problem with creating linked clones in View 6.0.1, where the VM gets stuck in the customizing section very early on in the process. (In fact, when it gets stuck it has not changed the name from the original snapshot/replica yet.) The symptom I see is that the Guest Agent service refuses to start and connect with the server. My workaround at the moment is to uninstall the View agent, reboot, then reinstall the agent. As soon as the services start up and contact the View servers, the process takes off and it finishes successfully. If that isn't strange enough, it happens on the last VM of the provisioning run. So if I make the pool with 2, and then add 3 more, then add 3 more, then add 2 more, I get this pattern:
#1 - ok
#2 - stuck
#3 - ok
#4 - ok
#5 - stuck
#6 - ok
#7 - ok
#8 - stuck
#9 - ok
#10 - stuck
Has anyone seen this kind of thing before? I've seen quite a few KB articles so far about desktop pools not completing successfully and suggestions to fix them, but nothing yet about sporadic failures or failures in a pattern. These clones are Win8.1 64bit, hardware v8 on vCenter 5.5/ESXi 5.5.
Thanks!
I changed the title to be more accurate for the problem. Message was edited by: ZeevEisenberg
Interesting Issue.Have never seen this behavior.
Is there any error message like customization timed out or Something???? for the Stuck Virtual Machine login to the machine and provide Composer Customization logs located at
%system_drive%\Windows\Temp\vmware-viewcomposer-ga-new.log
I can also think of your host (Esxi ) having a problem like the problem is when the machine goes to that particular Esxi
do you have dhcp addresses available. is the NIC connected?
