Printing in VDI environment

Hi all,

I have a prolem with printing in VDI. Our office have 50 zero client (user), and connect to virtual desktop in data center. Now we have a problem with printing , I do not know how to deploy the printer (we already have a network printer) in VDi enviroment, could any one help me to solve it? (in detail Smiley Happy ) .

Hi,

did you try to deploy your printers with GPO? It might help to include the drivers in the parent image to speed up deployment at logon.

Its quiet easy if all 50 users are at same location and all use the same netowork printer(s). Configure printer in the base image.

So all desktops cloned from this image will have the printer configured.

Or you can go for Thinprint solution for location based configuration.

As the others are saying, make sure the drivers are in the gold image and use GPOs, or utilize thinprinting if possible. Fairly straight forward but you need to do some reading first to figure out which solution is best for you. In some organizations their setup doesn't allow for thinpring so you must use GPO, and vice versa. Thinprinting works a helluva lot better than GPO for managing of the default printer, so I suggest you use that. VMware View is terrible for printing if you don't manage the default printer through GPO or thinprint.

So, try to get the below working it's pretty straighforward:
