We have a bunch of clients with VM View 4.5 running Windows 7. When I made the image I added all the printers to the snapshot via TCP/IP and set one to their defualts. After distributing out and entitling users, I see they are still receiving their default from the local machine. Is there any way I can change that? Our infristructure changed recently so the local printers are not giving out the correct IP. So when a user trys to print from the default printer, it's not the right address. I have advised users to change the default printer, but every time they log out and log back in, it changes the local PC one again.
Additional notes:
We are using PCoIP, we have 2 ESX 4.1 servers. We have roughly 150 client workstations, Linked-desktop (composer) clones, they have persistant disks.
So I guess my question is.... Do I need to change the printer settings on the local machines? Or is there a way I can set a default printer to stay in View?
Thanks!
Ben
To me it looks like you are using ThinPrint and it automatically sets the VMs default printer to one that is default on client's PC where user is connecting from. Even if user changes the default printer instance, ThinPrint automatically changes it back after some time or event (disconnect / log-off or log-on).
I have had this issue also and so far the only cure I've found is using Group Policy Objects and scripts to set default printer instance and sometimes disabling thin-print during View Agent installation.
Hope this helps.
