Hello everyone,
we've planned to update our Horizon infrastructure from 7.13 to 8.4 in the next few weeks and we are updating 5.x clients as well, several dozen Windows and Mac OS seats.
We've found out that users can't see their advanced printing options in their redirected printers anymore (Xerox and Konica, chiefly) and it's just a very basic interface with the Vmware logo on it. Users cannot set trays and advanced printing options... where has the original driver gone? Is this the default behavior of the new 8.x (2111) Client Agent ???
Thanks for your help!
Did you install the original driver on agent side?
if no, the redirected printer on agent side will use the provided VMware Universal Printer Driver(the UI contains VMware Logo), that's why there are some differences about the printing options.
If you are using Virtual Integrated Feature, driver can be installed on base and can use NPD feature through GPO : https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Horizon/2111/horizon-remote-desktop-features/GUID-81E84F1C-C446-46...
Yes, that was the issue, thanks!
The clients had a Xerox printer driver newer than the one on the RDS server (even if they had the same name). We loaded the new driver on the servers and we eventually could see the "original" printing options - and not just the basic options with the Vmware logo.
This means that we could force the original driver (that is, the driver running on the client) to be mapped and used all the time?
Glad that issue is resolved now. Yes, that is right, and that is how the Virtual Integrated Printing differs from Thinprint we had in previous versions.
