Printer Server Location - near to the VDI fabric, or on-prem?

So, im trying to figure out the best answer to this situation. We have around 1000 users at 10 different sites, each site has a number of printers and a Print Server. All users currently have thick client desktops and all their work is local to them. We are planning to implement a centralised VDI fabric, and replace the thick clients with thin clients, and move the local data centrally. At this stage we are not sure if the best option is to deploy new virtual print servers locally to the VDI fabric, and add the onsite printers to these, and to NOT use Printer Redirection but to publish the printers to the VDT's via GPOs, or we stick with on-prem print servers and allow printer redirection to pickup on the locally connected printers to the client? We were wondering about the benefits of either option from a manageability viewpoint, but also the impact on the WAN bandwidth with either too? Any info/help would be great. Thank you. Phil

in both cases , the print job will be initiated from the VDI desktop toward the network printer (from central VDI to branch or remote location where the printer location )

with print server you are adding additional stop that would cache and ease the management

Okay, thank you, so even though the printer redirect using the compression of EMF then are you saying that it makes no difference if the Print Server is centralised? Sorry if I did not understand your response fully. Regards.
