Persona syncs correctly when user is admin on repository server

Hi All,

I'm running into an issue with Persona Management.

I;ve setup a repository, set security, tested.. seemed to work ok for me. Added a few users, profile folders where created... all seems good. I've started to see replication issues between view clients (linked clones) and the persona server. View clients did not sync fully after the initial sync.

I've noticed for my profile i had the following folders:

Appdata\Local

Appdata\LocalRow

Appdata\Roaming

The users only have:

Appdata\Roaming

WMVVvp.txt

and this keeps returning... when i set the user to be admin on the file server, the processs continued

Wierd....

A collegue pointed out to me that he ran into that issue while testing (he's still in testing fase). When he added the users to be an admin on the repository server it worked again.

as a test i've added a user to the admin group on the repository, replication started directly.

Here's how its setup:

VDIProfiles$ (sharing rights: FULL)

NTFS Rights:

SYSTEM: Full Control,  (this folder, subfolders, and files)

Administrators: Full Control (this folder, subfolders and files)

VDI_AD_GROUP: "List folder/read data" , "Create folders/ append data" (this folder only)

Creator Owner: Full Control (Subfolders and files only)

Am i doing something wrong in the setup?

I set my permissions based on this technet page and have never experienced any issues.

The problem was to do with the rights on the NTFS folder.

i could not find it in the vmware KB or in the docs... i found a youtube video with a vmware slide installation it actually says

$1AD1DAB738122225.jpg

View persona requires additional permissions beyond those needed for windows roaming profiles. These extra permissions are not detailed in the view 5.0 administration guide

I've had to add "Read Attributes" to the ntfs permissions for the AD-Group which writes to the vdiprofiles share.
