Persona Management problem - breaked permissions on remote profile folder

Hi all,

Hi a have a View 5.1 environment with persona management in some pools.

The problem is that sometimes the permissions on the user folder on the remote profile share become messed.

It happens randomly.

The user profile folder in the remote folder share looses the user permission, it  stays only with the parent folder permissions.

When this happens the user login but gets a temp profile ...

I manually redefine the permissions and all works well again.

Does someone know what can be the problem?

Thanks.

Hi,

Did you enable "Add the administrator groups to redirected folders"?

If it is the case, then it's already fixed in version 6.1.1.

Thanks.

Is it possible you test with 6.1.1?

If it is not possible, could you please wait until next coming release of 5.3.x and test it against your environment?

Thanks.

I'd recommend upgrading to the latest version of View and utilizing a Window 2008 file server for your persona share. You can use server 2012 if you upgrade to 6.1.1, or 2008 if View 5.3.4. If you're using NetApp Data OnTap it can get a bit tricky.

Also make sure you're following best practices and search around the VMware KBs for the articles on Persona management to get up to speed on the various issues. There are a couple of gotchas with Persona management. For instance, client side caching is a bit tricky to disable fully and if you don't disable it it won't work:

Hi,

Thank you, but at this point i can't update to version 6.1.1.

I have only the option to upgrade to VMware Horizon View 5.3.4.

Thanks.

Hi,

I'm using windows 2012 as file server... can't it be the cause of this problems?

Thank you.
