Persistent Disk

How to copy the persistent disk? I need to back up this data in case of failure and I copying it to different datastore which has more space available.

I got an error saying its locked. I tried to shutdown the VM before start copying and I noticed also the folder I created on the other datastore is disappear.

Any idea best way to back up?

Check out this sample that will copy Persistent Disk data to a network share.  Designed for migrating off Persistent Disk but it could be used to backup the data too.
