It's my understanding that PCoIP doesn't actually work on a Linux client but will work through RDP and the VMWare View Open Client. This site may help;.

Cause PCoIP is implemented on the View Client (in the future probably on some thinclient) you must way when (and if) it will ported.

Yeah I messed around with thinstation a little bit and was only able to create an Icewm-based Linux distro with the View client already installed. The important note is that apparently USB and MMR are not supported. I cannot confirm that though. If you're good with Linux, you could technically create your own trimmed down distro with the View Client and rdesktop installed and replace the default session with the View Client I believe. Again USB and MMR may not be supported.

In our environment, to repurpose old desktops, I used the included guide but added a vbs and cmd file to the mix to always keep the View client open and then replaced the explorer shell with the View Client. This has worked well and supports USB and MMR.

If you are willing to pay $20 per machine there is a product from DevonIT called vdiblaster. It installs on the machine and adds a linux boot partition that the computer boots to with the vmware view client(with PCoIP as this is the official vmware linux client).

I've been trying it out and it works great! www.vdiblaster.com

Does VDIBlaster 1.1 support PCoIP and USB redirection? Can't find any mention of it on the website.

Thanks

Looking through a PDF I found it appears that it does in fact support USB re-direction.

The PDF is here. The catch is that the PDF is for Beta 2 released July 2009 but I would imagine the current version does in fact support it. I should be able to let you know for sure tomorrow as I'll be testing it.

Knows someone if the newest version of Thinstation support PCoIP?

I just tried out version 2.2.2d, and, sadly, it does not support PCoIP, only RDP Smiley Sad

At the moment VDIBlaster or the hp firmware is the only option of getting a non-windows pcoip client on a light, repurposed desktop pc I guess.

Hi,

I believe VMware View PCoIP Client for Linux is a work in progress, though I have managed to extract the client from a published HP executable. I have done this just to prove its possible, & you should not use it in production unless if you get a consent or agreement with HP and other parties involved. Though if you are curious to try it just as I did on my Ubuntu machine, you could look at:

VMware View PCoIP Client on Ubuntu is finally here

This post show a video of using the PCoIP Client on Ubuntu 11.04 and the background behind it.

This post show how I have acheived PCoIP running Client on Ubuntu. Its just interesting to find out how simple it was to acheive and repeat the process.

Warning: If you want to use this commercially things you will need to remember:

              - This is totally not supported

              - You might run in legal trouble.

Please reward points if this help.
