Password Expiry Issue

When a user just disconnects their session (doesn’t  logoff) on the day their password expires, the next day when they get to the view logon screen they are forced to change their password. However since the day before they only disconnected they reconnect to their old session which holds their old credentials which causes a mismatch between the old and new password.

This causes issues with Outlook and IE basically making them non-responsive. Locking the pc and re-entering new credentials seems to fix for some but other we need to reboot and delete the protect folder in their profile before Outlook will work again.

Has anyone come across this or know how to fix it?

We are having this exact same issue even when users logoff properly (we don't allow sessions to remain open overnight). Does anyone have a solution for this?
