PCoIP setup

Good Day to everyone,

I've been experimenting with Vmware's products for a few months now and have slowly gained a lot of knowledge on how the whole system works. However now that I have a system up and running I would like to start experimenting with PCoIP technology. I am very confused on how to implement this part of the system.

I know I need an active directory system, which I have, that is not a domain controller or terminal server. I have a PCoIP terminal with a Teradici chip. However I cannot seem to find a download for the View Connection Server. Is this a program which must be purchased? If so is there anyway to get a trial version so I may experiment before actually purchasing?

Thank you all for your replies! Being new to this system, I don't know much about it's operation and feel like noob all over again. I have all of you to thank for the huge strides I've made in the past few months. So again Thank you all.

Joey

I have moved your post over to the VMware View forum where you will get better responses.   As for your question the View product is available at a trial so that you can test things out.   Check out this page,  http://www.vmware.com/products/view/, for more information on the product.

Thanks, I can't believe I missed that page, there's just so many places on Vmware's website.

I'm deploying today. Thanks again

Ok, so here's my setup.

1 Esxi 4.1 Running 5 vm's

2 One of which holds my View Connection Server on a Windows 2008 R2 STD

Why does View Connection Server only allow vCenter Servers? Can I not add my Standalone ESXi 4.1 to View Connection Server? I am very confused on how to setup this PCoIP. Its sounds great and everything but I can't show my employer it's potential with zero-point clients if I have to pay for vCenter....we only have 1 server.

Is it me or do you have to buy vCenter to run a test deployment of PCoIP

If you want to test PCoIP with View you must implement a minimal infrastructure with:

  • one ESX or ESXi
  • one vCenter Server
  • one View Connection Server
  • at least one Virtual Desktop with the View Agent
  • one View Client

To test an hardware implementation (with Terradici Card) in this case you must use a Zero Client. The View Client software is not able (as I know) to use a hardware card on the "server" part.
