PCoIP over Security Gateway

I did last week the upgrade from View 4.5 -> 4.6

Nice to hear that View 4.6 supports PCoIP protocol over View Security Server. It was easy to setup up and is stable.

But the big problem is that the pcoip protocol needs a special firewall port open (4172) to access from the internet to the security server!! it's okay to configure that from security server to internal lan network. But clients with notebooks are in different networks (home office, public networks, etc.) which mostly don't allow all firewall ports from internal to external. So if I want access my virtual desktop from a "secure" network, I can only access over microsoft rdp protocol...And thats very unpleasant.

Is there a workaround or a statement from vmware?

thank you,

nicola

There is no workaround but you should give this blog post a read.  It goes over why they did things the way they did.
