One VCenter to manage Server and Desktop Farm

Hi,

I'm involved in an brand new project with a server and view farm to rebuild

The server will be using VMWare 5 technology, the View solution will be 4.6 running on ESXi 4.1

The question is, it is possible have 1 vCenter (ver 5) managing the Server Farm (running on ESXi 5) and the View farm (running on ESXi 4.1).

Anyone got experience or can redirect to some documentation ?

Thanks a lot

It is very much supportable. vCenter 5.0 supports legacy ESX boxes too.

you can use below online tool to check the compactibility

Hi SKG,

thanks for your reply that addressed one of my concerns.

The other is, from View perspective, is ok use the same vCenter for both environments? There are concerns/experiences in the community of a single vCenter managing 2 the desktop and server farms (not in linked mode).

Thanks

You can.. no issues. Only thing is that you should not mix-up different ESX verions in a single cluster.

Keep each esx versions in separate cluster or, If you can Isolate different ESX versions in separate daatacenter in a VC then nothing like that.
