Numeric keypad

Hi all,

our French and Spanish users (running the Horizon Client 5.5.2) complain about a strange behavior of the "dot" button in the Numeric keypad. The local IME setting runs just fine for them (since they have a French and a Spanish keyboard layout) but the dot button should display a comma (decimal separator) in Excel and MS Dynamics apps. It works as expected only with the English/UK locale (default) and of course they cannot switch back and forth to the best keyboard layout.

In the past they used to connect to a Citrix farm and they never complained about decimal separators at all, the "dot" turned instantly into a "comma".

What can we check out on our RDS 2019 servers? Maybe a GPO for that?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Memmo,

The dot is translated to comma by Excel based on Regional Format settings. When Excel runs as Horizon Seamless window APP with local IME enabled, the dot will be sent to the APP(Excel) as Unicode and thus will not be converted to comma.

Since this should be the case for all keyboard layouts, the default en-US keyboard layout is also supposed to show dot on the Excel. So I suspect when customer says "It works as expected only with the English/UK locale (default)", the local IME is actually turned off. Can you please confirm this?

There is currently no settings or GPO for tweaking this behavior, except changing this default behavior in future releases.

Thanks.

Hello arongp,

yes you are correct, if the local IME is turned off the dot is translated to comma. When IME is turned on (supporting the AZERTY French keyboard layout), the dot is not translated to comma in Horizon apps.

An option could be a permanent Registry remapping of the dot button (to comma) on the Windows client?

A registry mapping can resolve this issue but the mapping is system wide and will affect all other applications on local host. If this is acceptable for the customer, I think it can be a temporary fix for now.
