Needs to migrate my Vcenter server - What's about my VDI ?

Hi all,

I've planned to attach my ESX servers (where I've few VDI running) to a new Vcenter running 2.5 , but what's needs to be done under VDM admin interface ?

Is the system enough powerful to re-link my individual desktops through the new Vcenter ?

Thanks,

Fabien

I believe no need to change any thing on the VDI, if you are running under the same server and there is no network change.

Is your new vCenter 2.5 going to utilize the existing database?

If so, just make sure you have composer loaded and add the new vCenter server into the View Manager.

If not, you will need to install composer and recreate your desktop pools..basically starting fresh.

If the ESX servers attached to the new vCenter server, The MOID of VMs & parent VMs change along with vCenter server name.

You need to redeploy from the existing templates.

Do you use the composer?

If not, it is possible to retain your virtual desktops.
