I'm about to start testing link clones, and I was wondering if its possible to have the clones use private IP addresses which are NATed by a DHCP server. What issues would I be running into with PCoIP and connections to the Connection Server?
Has anyone setup a configuration like this?
There is harm in that. NATed IPs are hidden for external network.
You might have to design and configure VPN server to bypass the NAT, if you are accessing the desktops externally using PCoIP protocol (or RDP)
Hi,
PCoIP doesn't support tunneled connections as of view 4.5. Also the protocol is not supported (won't work) through NAT gateways.
This means if you have a private IP for all clones which has to be NATed to reach client subnet, you cannot use PCoIP for desktops.
Next release of View will support Secure Gateway for PCoIP and will enable you to use such a scheme. ( read more on this here http://communities.vmware.com/community/cto/desktop/blog/2010/12/13/secure-remote-access-with-view-a... )
Hope this clarifies your question.
