My linked clones show "120GB" provisioned for a 60GB hard drive.

EDIT: I have updated the question and title text.

So I have a Win 7 master with a 60GB hard disk (thin).

The master has three snapshots, each with slightly different configurations for three different pools.

When a pool creates a replica, the replica says "provisioned - 60GB" "used - 54GB" (or thereabouts)

However, the linked clones that are created show "provisioned - 120GB" "used - 54 GB".

  • Checking a single linked clones files show around 6GB or files in total.
  • 3 virtual disks (main vmdk, internal.vmdk, checkpoint.vmdk)

Why does it provision 120GB when there is only a 60GB hard disk?

I believe this is causing storage issues for me.

A linked clone is basically a VM with a snapshot. Since that snapshot could theoretically grow up to the VM's configured virtual disk's size, the provisioned size is twice the configured size. Unless there are huge changes on the snapshot, this shouldn't cause any issues.
