We used VM OSOT tool to optimize our gold images and for some reason, i could not launch MS Teams after deploying to client pool. It will execute and close right away in Task manager. And, I installed as a MSI option. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Thanks.
Which VMware product are you using?
VMware Vsphere 6 Desktop Host
Hi Stevend0
Do you mean you are running horizon desktop pool and Teams fails to launch there? If yes, this thread can be moved to Horizon.
What is the template version you selected while running OS optimization tool?
Horizon?
You should also note that OSOT is a Fling, therefore not formally supported.
Moderator: Thread moved to the Horizon area.
I looked thru the discussions and found similar issues such as printer redirection and enable window update and most of them can be fixed through registry keys and local group policy. So I think this is probably a right place to bring up my issue. I think OSOT tool has disabled some registry keys which prevent MS Teams from running. I am hoping that you guys could shed a light on this issue and that's all. Thanks.
Hi Stevend0
Which template did you use to run OS optimization? I hope you have gone through Best Practices for Delivering Microsoft Office 365 in VMware Horizon 7 | VMware to deploy office365 with horizon desktop pool.
Also what exactly happens when you run teams on VDI? Can you provide any screenshot or error message when it fails? This will help to further trace down the issue.
Unfortunately, our gold image was configured by someone else, i don't any information about the template. I have tried multiple versions of Teams and none of them are working. When i excute the application (exe), it will show installation process and create a new shortcut on desktop, nothing else, it does neither launch a login window nor display any error messages.
If you are using pool, power on parent image and perform below procedure:
Uninstall Teams and Clean Up Profiles of teams:
%localappdata%\Microsoft\Teams\. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Teams\PreventInstallationFromMsi registry value. Then Open elevated command prompt and install teams in all user mode:
msiexec /i Teams_windows_x64.msi OPTIONS="noAutoStart=true" ALLUSERS=1
If it is non persistent then follow : https://communities.vmware.com/people/kvmw2130/blog/2020/05/29/microsoft-teams-with-vmware-vdi-app-v...
Then take a snapshot and recompose the pool. For more information about this please refer: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/msi-deployment
