Microsoft Licenses and Vmware View

does anyone understand Microsoft's licensing of its desktop OS for VDI?  I suspect that they will give you a better price if you use their VDI but it appears they want to charge those of us  using third party solutions a monthly fee of 7.00 per desktop per month which is really good for them

Tom, in the past, Microsoft's answer for using Windows XP on your VDI was that each VDI needed a full OS license.  We did purchase these in the past, without software assurance, as we didn't plan to update them.

The newer OS models have changed in licensing, maybe there is a Microsoft rep on this forum who can speak to it...
