Looking for VMware documentation on 64 VM/replica limit per LUN

I've done some searching for the max number of VMs or replicas for a View 4.5 and vSphere 4.1 environment. Thus far I've only found a other blogs and such that state 64 as the limit. e.g. http://myvirtualcloud.net/?p=1155

The Architecture Planning Guide for View version 4.01 has the limit stated on Table 4-7 (http://www.vmware.com/pdf/view401_architecture_planning.pdf). The Architecture Planning Guide for View version 4.5 (http://www.vmware.com/pdf/view45_architecture_planning.pdf) doesn't have a number that I could find. Just references to vSphere 4.1's maximums (http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r41/vsp_41_config_max.pdf) and the View Storage Considerations (http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/view_storage_considerations.pdf).

Am I missing something or is the "virtual machines per LUN" maximum not listed for View 4.5 in any of VMware's documentation?

Thanks,

Troy

That recommendation was included in one of the older reference architectures but I was also unable to find it in the newer documents. I actually asked Andre (http://myvirtualcloud.com) about this on twitter and he felt it was alright to exceed that number. He did state that you should keep a close eye on IOPS and latency.

I have always felt that VMware has done a poor job on communicating the maximums for View. Might be worthwhile to open a support ticket.
