We have a couple Horizon View environments set-up and need to identify which license is located where. Where can i find the License I am using?
In what I have seen once you input the license key it's not displayed anywhere on the View Admin page. You may be able to query the ADSI database to see what the license key is.
mittim12, do you know the query and steps that we need to take to access the license key ?
I honestly don't know. It may not even be in the ADSI instance but that was the only place that made sense to me.
Thanks for your honest reply.
You know a couple of years back I asked a similar question on the forums. We had increased our license count and I wanted to verify which license was in View. The response I got, if I remember correctly, was that View only cared if you put in a valid license and it didn't do any hard checks on concurrency numbers.
I think you are right about it. Even if you exceed the license count, view still works no hard limit. AFAIK Licenses are not stored. But then I may be wrong....May be some VMware View developer can answer this question
We do store them in our AD LDS instance, but not in a format that's easily pulled back out again as they're considered sensitive data. In recent versions they're stored in an obfuscated form under cn=license,ou=global,ou=properties,dc=vdi,dc=vmware,dc=int. As has already been mentioned, we don't do hard license enforcement on the connection server(s) - it's up to administrators to check usage counts and ensure they're compliant.
