Load balancing view connection servers

hi there

Currently we are pilot testing VMware view 4.5rc

In our view 4.5 enviroment, we have installed 2 view connection management servers installed to windows 2008r2 x64 vm

The second server we have configured the view connection manager server as replica, from what I understand both are master servers, changes made on

any server are automatically replicated to others?

Here is my question, for load balancing would you recommand enabling NLB from Windows 2008r2?

Appreciate any comments or feedback

Many thanks

Josh

Hi Josh,

You are correct that both servers will stay in sync while running. Similar to AD, changes made on one server will be reflected on the other almost immediately (if not instantaneously).

In terms of load balancing you have several choices. NLB is definitely one of them. Others have used DNS round robin with some success as well.

Personally, after much experience with these matters, I tend to recommend a hardware load balancer of some sort. Since they are (usually) a hardware appliance they tend to perform very well and usually have more and better control over the sessions being created.

But NLB should work just fine for you!
