Linked Clone Pool Creation Error: VMware.Sim.Fault.InvalidParentVmFault, InvalidSnapshotDiskConfiguration

I am getting the following error:

VMware.Sim.Fault.InvalidParentVmFault, InvalidSnapshotDiskConfiguration

when creatin a linked clone pool. I have tried migrating the Parent VM to another host as well as deleting the snapshot and taking it again while the VM was powered off but I keep getting the same error. Does anyone have any ideas why this error is appearing? Thanks for the help.

Was the parent VM powered off when you migrated to another host?    That was a requirement in this KB, http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2008985.

The parent VM was off when it was relocated to another host.

After contacting support and diagnosing the issue for 3 hours the problem was related to a corrupted VM. Creating a new VM and linking the old VMDK file to the new VM fixed the issue.
