Kiosk mode with Windows XP auto logon (other user)

Greetings,

I'm having some troubles getting kiosk mode to work with auto logon on windows xp side.

Kiosk mode works if I disable autologon (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315231) but when it's enabled it gives an error saying that all the desktops are in use.

The weird thing, is that when I don't enable autologon and I manually log on with another user than the custom-username for the kioskmode I can disconnect and reconnect to the desktop as much as I want. But the moment I enable autologon with another user than custom-username it gives the all desktops are currently in use error.

Does anybody know if kiosk mode with autologon for another user than the custom-username user works?

Thanks in advance,

Bram

Might work if you disable the autologon, then use the View GPO to disable SSO, and then allow the user to login with whatever username/password you want.

Forgive me me for asking what may be a dumb question but is the kisok in a dedicated pool with the VM assigned to the custom-username person?

Hello mittim12,

No problem, it's best to be sure. It's in a floating pool with the VM assigned to the custom-username. Does it need to be dedicated or is floating ok too? I could probably work with a dedicated pool instead of a floating if needed, will just need more users that way. Smiley Happy

Kind regards,

Bram

I just tried it with a dedicated pool but I still got the same problem. Smiley Sad

The autologon is prob making View think the desktop is in use so it's unable to allocate a desktop to the user logging in.   What is the agent status of the desktops in question when they fail?

Yeah that's exactly the problem. Smiley Sad It says it's Connected.

I've also noticed that it's the same even if I'm using the same user.

When connecting with the custom-username user (so not another user) and pick "log off" it (Windows XP) automatically logs custom-username back in. Reconnecting doesn't work after that, it needs a reset before custom-username can log back in.

I'm guessing there's no way I can just skip the "check" if a user is connected and/or just force the log on with view? 😕

I don't think there is a way around that.   Why do you need the Windows autologon since View should pass through SSO and autolog the Kiosk on?

Well originally I was trying to log on with a different user, I just tried with the same user as a way of troubleshooting, to see if it’s just in conflict with the different users being logged on. Smiley Happy

Yeah it’s probably either that (and lose one of the main functions of a kiosk Smiley Happy) or setting everything up for the custom-username user. Thanks for your assistance. Smiley Happy
