Keeping same IP for View Composer linked clones

Hi

We are doing a setup with View 5 and Composer in which each desktop will need to have a static IP. We have created a dedicated pool with individual user assignment and can set the static IP for each user on their first login.

The issue is when doing a Refresh or Recompose on the desktop where the static IP is then gone! Is there any way to have a static IP, which remains persistent when recomposing/refreshing the linked clone?

If its a low number of desktops you could simply do DHCP reservation in the DHCP-server. That would be based on the MAC-adress of each virtual machine. (You have to look it up somehow)

If using dedicated machines then the MAC will not change between the refreshes.

I'm sure its possible to script somehow if needed.

I would agree. If everything else fails, using a program that can help you set it up manually and to have it run continuously is a great choice.
