Issue with connecting to eGPU after installing VMWare Horizon Client on Windows

I have a Asus ROG Z13 "tablet" which has an external GPU (called a XG Mobile unit) - from here I connect my main monitor to use the tablet effectively as a desktop device on Windows 11.

The tablet has an application called Armoury Crate and within this there is a software component called "GPU Switch Tray" - the sole purpose of this app is when you connect or disconnect the eGPU, it detects this and redirects the video appropriately.

After installing VMWare Horizon client on Windows with default settings and rebooting, the icon for "GPU Switch Tray" disappears and as the user is then unable to access the GPU to initiate a disconnection, the system can become unstable.

I had a slightly similar issue sometime ago with the desktop I was using at the time, and I had a specific graphics card - the NVidia Titan Black which exhibited the same error - the post for this is here:

It turns out the solution for this issue is the same as it is for the one above - to select a custom installation of VMWare Horizon and to disable the Skype optimisation component - carry on with the installation as normal, but you will find that the GPU Switch Tray application is still available for use afterwards.

Just wanted to post this in the hope it helps anyone else experiencing this issue.
