Is it feasible to replace in car laptops with a tablet connected to View

Does anyone think its feasible to replace toughbooks in police cars with a tablet (iPad or Android) connected to a view client?  Has anyone heard of someone doing that?

Yes it is.  You need to have  a decent connection.  3G or better for it to work well.  I did this in a bunch of police cars.  It works well.  the biggest issue was disconnects.  However, the reconnect is pretty fast and you go right back to where you were. 

If your in an area that this subject to bad cell coverage, I would test it first.

PCOIP works  better then straight RDP.  also, in the "Windows 7 Best Praticies" paper there is a script you can run to help make windows 7 work better for VDI.

Sure it will work and all the comments above are spot on, however I'd keep this in mind.  Those guys have guns, so I'd be careful before you try and make them type in a license plate on an iPad.

I'd go with a Wyse X90C7 (laptop thin client) or something similar.  But I'm just anti-tablet for anything that requires input expecially since the apps you connect to most likely won't be designed for a touch interface.

Just make sure you track how often police use the track pad, if you remove this they may not be happy.

I'm exteremly hesitant to replace laptops with tablets as its not a very good use case for View.

I think View can do what you need it to, I'm just concerned with your client choice.  Good luck though!
