Interoperability with VMware Horizon floating VMs

Hi,

our company is developing security software. Some of our customers want to run it on floating VMs of the VMware Horizon solution.

In case of other VDI solutions (like Citrix) we use SMBIOS ID to properly register VM on our remote server and avoid duplicate registrations. But with VMware Horizon the SMBIOS ID is always different so this logic doesn't work. Could you please suggest what ID could be used instead? I've found in your documentation that there is a command "repcli reregister now" that is used for registering VMware Carbon Black in a similar scenario as described here (in the "Horizon Non Persistent VMs" section):

So basically I need to know which persistent ID it relies on. Could you please help with this issue?

From my limited knowledge, this is a bit tricky. Please see https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Horizon-7/7.13/virtual-desktops/GUID-DC192666-E80B-43EA-B9BB-0B25B.... This was long back when Horizon was getting matured and linked clones were used.

The above information might have changed with the new cloning technology used in Horizon (instant clones), so this should be a a highly technical question and you might need to contact VMware directly.
