Horizon 7 instant clone pool with resuse existing accounts ticked.
I have had to delete all entries in the DNS cache then remake the pool. It was working to start with correct hostnames/IP that match dns however once the user logs out and its automatically recreated the DHCP assigned IP address will be different and not updated in the DNS cache. Thus we are getting firewall popups so GPO are not getting applied.
Are you already using a power off script to release the IP addresses? You can add these in the guest customization of ClonePrep.
Hi,
I think that problem can be in DNS server configuration. You can start checking DNS logs and you can do simple troubleshooting (i put some screens from Windows DNS/DHCP servers):
1. Please verify that you have DNS reverse zone configured correctly.
2. Check that your DNS server has enabled configuration of "Dynamic updates".
2. Check your Aging settings

3. There is also setting in DHCP server for dymaic updates

In the above example the DHCP server owns and maintains the DNS record. It depends on your preference which way to go here. As mentioned previously, you should be releasing the IP before the image is sealed up.
Alternatively, if you prefer to have the DNS client (guest OS service) register and maintain DNS, the computer account needs to own the DNS record. You can see this by viewing the security on the DNS record, if an unknown SID (previous instant clone!) owns the record, and the current computer account does not... delete the record so that it can recreated with the current system account and make sure this farm setting is checked so that the SID will not change.
I'm not sure what's up but this article appears to be deleted. I have it bookmarked also. It was titled DHCP IP address lease not released for Instant Clones (76275)
