Can I Enable indexing service on Win7 Virtual workstation? Performance?

Hi,
Quote from VMETC blog:
"Indexing Services uses large amounts of RAM. It
enables faster searches by scanning the indexed lists.
However, indexing typically uses lots of CPU time
and if the user doesn't search their computer often,
indexing won't help them at all. If they do search
frequently, indexing may not make the searches faster."
I've always disabled indexing in builds I've done, you're hitting a much faster array than a single 5,400 rpm hard drive, so is the overhead worth it? Multiply that by 1,000's of users and it all adds up, you will end up having to adjust your hardware specs. I'm sure others will have ideas on this topic too...

I always disable it for my images but there isn't a need for it in my environment. If you have a direct need then your best bet is to enable it and then do some testing to see if performance will be acceptable.
