I have 3 hosts in my VDI deployment 2 nearly identical R720 Hosts (Host 5 and 6) and one R730 host ( Host 7). I am running Horizon view 6.0.1 build-2088845. Host 5 is running 5.5.0 1892794, Host 6 is running 5.5.0 1746018, and Host 7 is running 5.5.0 1892794. A user was complaining that an application was running slow. The application does a large calculation so I tested a vm in the pool and timed the results. This test and the user were both running on Host 5. The results were that it too over 6 minutes to complete. I tried on host 6 and the results were complete in about 2:30. That is a 250% difference in performance! I also tried on Host 7 and the results were similar to host 6. Trying to narrow down the cause I tested with different core counts and underlying data stores, (local ssds and iScsi shared storage) the results were the same. I also tested using a copy of the master image and use the same machine and moved it to all the hosts and data stores giving the same results. Any time the VM ran on Host 5 the calculation to 6 minutes and any other host it took about 2:30.
If anyone can give me any tips for additional test I could run or things I could look at to figure out the root cause of this issue I would be very appreciative.
The host 5 & 6 have the same processor memory and network. The chassis are different, 5 has the 8 bay and 6 has the 16 bay. I did hard drive bench tests and CPU bench tests in that VM and got similar results between 5&6.
