This is a University with 20k plus students running Horizon 7.6 Windows 10 platform.
Student's do NOT log off from the computer session, so what's the best way to log off after 1 hour of ideal time? is there a setting in Horizon? or do I need to use GPO, task scheduler what's the best way? thanks for your help.
For disconnecting idle sessions there is no built-in functionality. We've had success doing this with GPO to push a scheduled task.
Alas, there is still no idle timeout built into Horizon. Hopefully, a future release will get this functionality.
In the meantime what I've seen and used is to make the change to either a GPO in AD or you can do this directly on the golden image. Not there are settings for the Computer and User portions of the group policy
Configure the "Session Time Limits" policies on your Windows 10 PC:
1. Open gpedit.msc
2. Navigate to:
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits
3. Edit "Set time limit for active Remote Desktop Services sessions"
4. Enable and set time 1hour
5. Navigate to:
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits
6. Edit "Set time limit for active Remote Desktop Services sessions"
7. Enable and set time 1hour
Hope that helps in the interim.
Regards
Joe
