How to specify OU in AD?

Hello!

View 4.5.I create an automated pool with full clones. Unlike linked clones, I can not specify what OU to join and the cust.spec does not let me specify what OU to put the view desktop into, only what domain to join.

How do I say what OU to join in a full clone pool?

Hi,

this thread: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1347945

The following person noted: "In my test environment where I have View setup, I created a new OU in

AD called VDI and I have set this path the AD container to OU=VDI in

the QuickPrep Settings so the link-cloned VM's get created in this OU

as opposed to in the Computer folder."

Like I said, I do not use linked clones. How is this all done with full clones where the clients are sysprepped?

To put the computer in a specific Organizational Unit in the Active Directory domain, add a line under the section called similar to this: MachineObjectOU="OU=Desktops,OU=Machines,DC=Domain,DC=local". Obviously you’ll need to customize this string for your environment.

see: http://briandesmond.com/blog/how-to-build-a-sysprep-answer-file-for-imaging/

Your sysprep files will be located in the directory where your vcenter application is located. This appears to be something "manully" done not something that is done through vCenter or lab manager itself. If you modify that sysprep inf file I would recommend putting it back after your deployments are done.

I hope this helps.

Ah! So I simply edit the generated sysprep answerfile and it will be used. Makes sense. Thanks.
