How to migrate VDI to VIEW 3?

Hi,

i´ve searching for documents wich describe a migration scenario. In my lab i had to uninstall VDI because VDI checks the use of the www service. Is the only way to upgrade an VDI environment to install a second machine and install the VIEW Connection Server? Is there any paper for this way?

best regards

Christian

We had a lab for 2.1 running when 3.0 was released and we were able to install right on top of the existing server install. It kept our VC connection and everything.

Welcome to the Forums,

make sure that the underlying ESX and VC are upto ESX 3.5 U3 and VC is 2.5U3 before you update VDM to View, the update will go smoothly so long as you have read the documents and made sure all the pre-reqs are met.

What are the recommended migration steps in an environment where both security server and connection serversare clustered?

The upgrade is fairly straight forward, if you are going to run Linked Clones, check the ESX and VC pre-recs both need to be U3. also review the TCP Ports that are required for your forward and backend firewalls, they ports have changed. this is all in the View Administartion guide documentation.
