Hi,
I already have a VI3 environment (6 enterprise edition seats, virtual center etc etc). Am I right in thinking that to create a virtual desktop environment, all I need is licences for Virtual Desktop Manager ($500 per 10 seats, $5000 per 100)?
If so, are these concurrent licences, like the starter pack is?
Thanks,
Iain
The licenses are concurrent and if you already have a VI infrastructure that includes Virtual Center then you should be ok with just the VDM licenses.

Thanks for this... Is it possible to buy the connection licences online? The on-line shop thing is only offering me the starter kit.... ?:|

Iain
I would contact your local VMware sales rep, as they would be able to offer you a better package more appropiate to your requirements. I am pretty certain that only the starter kit is offered online.

Thanks... Your slide indicates that there's a minimum purchase of 100 VDM licences...which is significantly more than what I want to buy immediately... Why is buying VMware the hardest thing about it???
Cheers,
Iain
Hi Iain,
there are some further considerations wrt licencing which are covered in this post so you may want to have a look at that too.
Get in contact with a local VMware partner who can sell you the licenses. You don't need to start with 100, you can start in the 10s. Many people don't know this, its not highlighted. They can discuss what you want to do and then guide you as to what you need. Is not hard, you just have to ask the right person for help.
