I need a single workstation client to be able to connect to Multiple conenction servers (located in different regions) and launch muliple vm's concurrently.
The standard view cleint 4.6 install will seemingly allow you to connect to one connection server and lauch muliple VM's (as long as they are from a differnt pool).
However you do not appear to be able to connect to a second connection server without first closing down your first connection/client.
If you try and open a 2nd client session it does not give you the option to login but just displays your currenlty available desktop pools for the logged in user.
The reason for the requirement is that I have the the view conenction servers regionalised globally for performance and DR . A single worskation needs to connect to both regions concurrenlty.
Hopefully there is a switch or regisrty setting that needs to be enabled to allow a truelly 2nd instance of client to start ?
thanks in advance fo any assiatance you can give on this.
Neal
You can try out the -standalone switch which allows you to start another instance of VMware View. The only caveat is that it's a unsupported switch.
Hi , thanks for that. It seems like it will do what I need.
I wonder why they have made this an unsupported option ?
thanks again Neal
Not sure but I've used it several times in testing and never run into any problems.
or you could ThinApp the View client and mae a few copies of it, set the sandbox to follow the app and link to the different copies .. thats supported and should work as well
