Hi,
I just upgrade View Agent to 6.0.2 on vDesktops. But the MMR seems not work at all comparing to RDP desktop. could anyone give a hand?
Below cited are from "Using VMware Horizon Client for Windows" page 10-11:
Horizon Client 3.2 Windows Media MMR Support and Requirements for
Windows 7 and 8.x
To use Windows Media MMR on Windows 7 and Windows 8.x View desktops and Windows 7 or Windows
8.x clients, your servers, virtual desktops, and client computers must meet certain system requirements.
VMware software
requirements
n The View server must be 6.0.1 or a later release.
n The remote desktops must have View Agent 6.0.2 or a later release
installed.
I MPORTANT If you use Horizon Client 3.2 to connect to a View desktop
that has View Agent 6.0.1 or an earlier release installed, the Windows
Media MMR feature does not work, and the Windows 7 MMR feature
also does not work.

Horizon Client 3.0 and 3.1 MMR Support and Requirements for Windows 7
Operating Systems
To use MMR on Windows 7 View desktops and Windows 7 or Windows 8 clients, your servers, virtual
desktops, and client computers must meet certain system requirements.
I MPORTANT With Horizon Client 3.0 and 3.1, Windows 8 remote desktops do not support MMR. For these
View agents, use Windows media redirection, included with RDP 7 and later, or upgrade to Horizon Client
3.2 or later and View Agent 6.0.2 or later.
VMware software

n The View servers and desktops must be View 5.3 or a later release.

Chapter 1 System Requirements and Setup for Windows-Based Clients
Please provide the following information:
On the client endpoint, open up task bar and observer the network statistics. If MMR is working, the network usage should not dramatically change if you do full-screen video or even minimize the video screen completely - the reason for this is because the media stream is redirected in its native compressed format to the client endpoint.
Hi,
thanks for your information.
It's a win7 direct-connection vdesktop. And after I re-installed the VMware tools, the MMR works well.
But here comes another question:
The video files with AC3 audio codec are not supported as a limitation claimed in release note. But I noticed that the behavior with totally different with in RDP desktop.
Here's what I observed with a video file with AC3 audio codec:
In PCoIP desktop: CPU and network usage goes really high. Audio, video works but not with MMR function.
In RDP desktop: The pictures works well with MMR function, only on sound output when playing the video file.
So, what kind of behavior should be right in PCoIP session ?
Oops, one more question: there's another new feature about MMR which saying that support MMR with WMP inside IE. Could dive into the detail, or just provide me a sample approach to verify this feature?
thanks in advance.
