Anyone have a "how-to" for re-purposing a PC for use as a VMware View thin client.
My preference would be to use Linux.
I tried using the minimal Ubuntu 12 distro, but I obviously could make it work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you seen/tried the following article:
It's a great guide for producing a live CD.

I looked at the link - good information - but not exactly what I am looking for.
I want a minimal installation of Linux with the VMware View client installed, with USB support.
I want to the Linux machine to auto-logon and present a single icon - the VMware View icon.
I could be out of scope but just in case it would help, I did something similar with Windows Thin PC
Associated to a couple of GPOs and scripts + shelly.exe to modify the shell, the PC only knows how to run the view client and loop on it.
Windows Thin PC, if I am correct, is only available to MS's customers with software assurance.
Cheers
I will be out of the office Monday October 15 through Thursday October 18. I will be checking email periodically and will return your email on my return.
Have you tried the IGEL Universal Desktop Converter (www.igel.com)? Linux based kernel, not free but has an extremely powerful management platform that is included within the package at no extra cost. The UI also matches their range of thin clients. We are now deploying to 200 clients, no hiccups, no issues and five years support. There are also a couple of stripped down Linux kernels that are FOC (usb boot) but no remote management, come back to me and I will provide links (once I find them again)
I've just updated our repurpose ISO. You can download them here:
You can just burn it to a CD and boot it up. http://susestudio.com/a/uYUAry/view-1-6-desktop-32bit-www-thesummitgrp-com
