The company recently change domain name , need to migrate all the virtual machine in the old domain to the new domain, include horizonview servers, use the Microsoft ADMT tool, I want to know the impact of the horizonview in the old domain, whether the horizonview is still normal after migrating to the new domain。Is there any good way to do?
Hi,
The new domain is in the same forest?
Because you can create a Domain Trust between them and use it in Horizon.
Horizon View and Active Directory Trusts
Configuring Domains and Trust Relationships
Also, check this thread, it might help you.
NO,The New is other forest。it is not the same forest。
So, if you are able to temporary create a trust between them:
Create a new connection server as replica in the new domain to the existing one.
Try to create a Pool in the new domain, using credentials for the new domain
Remove and decommission the connection server from the old domain, and break the trust. (VMware Knowledge Base )
If you have Composer server, you can migrate it as well Guidelines for Migrating View Composer
However, if you can't create a temporary trust, you have to deploy as a new environment.
For horizon you can restore the configuration Reinstall Horizon Connection Server with a Backup Configuration
If that's your case, I suggest you to test before and see the expected behavior.
Be very careful with this. There are multiple components that rely on existing names, addresses including Composer, vCenter, all the service accounts and links. I would recommend testing this in a proper test environment (if available) before proceeding with a production change like this. Create a list of all components that rely on existing domain & IP connections, then think it through. Good luck.
Ok, thank you, what is the whole process ?Can you describe it simply?
Thank you very much, but the horizoneview server also needs to be migrated.
