I believe you are planning to move Vcenter as well to a different Domain or you have already Done that.

Moving Linked clones to different Domain you can try this again cannot assure 100% success Please try in a Test Environment

1)Create two way trust between the existing and new Domain

2)Install Connection server in the new Domain as a replica to the existing Domain

3) Try building machines in the new Domain

4)Attach the Persistent Disks to the new machines or Recreate Desktops

5)Remove or Decommission the old Connection Server http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1010153

Hopefully this should be it.

why i can't just add view server to new domain,

add new vm pool and create new vdi desktops in new domain and attach persistent disks?

You can certainly Do that as well

1)Detach Persistent Disk from existing pool

2)From New Connection Server Import persistent Disks from Vcenter(This option would take a long time to export so you have to be really patient on this one)

3)Once import is done Go to persistent Disk Hit recreate Desktop should be good

You should *not* be doing detach/recreate for migrating Linked clones to new domain . I would suggest to perform "Recompose to new domain" as per below steps (This is officially supported scenario)

Recompose to new domain:

  1. At server configuration page, edit vCenter configuration, edit View Composer settings and add new the Admin account for new Domain.
  2. Edit pool settings, Customization page, and choose (drop-down) new Domain that was added on step-1
  3. Now Perform a rebalance (or recompose) all the clones will be moved to the new domain.

For this, my suggestion will be as follows.

Create trust relationship between domains. (Two way transitive)

Setup new connection server on new domain as replica to the existing View server (And add the new administrator account to the administrator role)

Once desktops are migrated, you can decommission the old connection server and you can remove the trust relationship.
